The endorsing bodies for Nitec in Baking is Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Certificate of Proficiency in Baking by BITC and Diploma in Patisserie is by City & Guilds of London Institute, UK.

2. I have no experience in baking, which course should I take?

You can enroll for the Baking Principles or the popular California Style in Baking if you want to learn a skill as it focuses on teaching hands-on skills. The programme comprises of practical classes, reinforce basic information, definitions of terms and techniques.

If you wish to acquire a skill for career prospect, you may consider to enroll for the Nitec in Baking, Certificate of Proficiency in Baking or Diploma in Patisserie.

3. What is the qualification needed for me to take the baking course?

In order to apply for the course, the academic requirement is "N" Level or Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 5. However, if you have difficulty to read and write in English or Mandarin you too may qualify as there will be written examination for the Theory component.

4. Can I take the Diploma in Baking without going through Nitec in Baking course as I have been working in this industry for many years?

BITC’s Diploma in Baking practical units consolidate advanced baking skills and techniques so as to have a complete and coherent training. Unless you have worked in the Senior capacity in the baking industry with a minimum of 3 years hands-on baking experience. A letter of proof is required from the employer.

5. How long does it take to complete the Diploma in Baking?

The Diploma in Baking full-time intakes takes about 6 months to complete whilst part-time intakes takes about 1½ years.
